The Hillside Scholarship established in 1952 by Ruhl Custer from $500 he won from a TV show. The first scholarship awarded was for $150.00. Since then, over $300,000 has been awarded to Hillside High School students to assist them with their higher education expenses.
Any graduating Hillside High School senior is eligible to apply for one of our scholarship awards. In addition to their academic achievements, we consider the student's motivation, extracurricular activities and community service involvement in our evaluation process. We choose students who genuinely wish to succeed in life and care about the world we live in, now and the future.
Our scholarship award is made directly to the awardee's college or technical school. The scholarship award can be applied towards the student's books, tuition or dormitory expenses. All scholarship awards must be claimed within two years of awarding.
The Hillside Scholarship Trustees are current or former Hillside NJ residents and business owners whose primary purpose is to assist the students of Hillside High School.
